What is the Best Keyword Density for Blog Posts?

Writing daily blog posts is a great way to achieve Internet fame. This new found fame can also start making you money if you use the right Internet marketing tools. It’s all about the words on the page in the beginning and quality content is important. An equally important aspect of operating your blog is controlling the density of each keyword. The density, or number of times that a word or phrase is used, can literally make or break your search engine results. Google is particularly not nice to blogs with densities that are too high. What is the best keyword density for blog posts? It depends on the person that you ask. We’ll tell you what works well for our website.

Easy to Use Keyword Density Tools

What is the best keyword density for Google? They won’t tell us. If Google spilled the beans, the exact density would be all over the Internet and everyone would be doing it. It would degrade the usefulness of having keywords in strategic places. In our own studies, we have found that a good amount to use is about 1 percent and no higher than 2 percent. So how do you figure out the exact percentages? Unless you’re a mathematician or studying at home to be one, you’ll probably never figure out the exact formula that Google uses. You can, however, use some easy to use tools that are totally free.

1. SEOQuake

We’ve sung the praises of SEOQuake in past blog posts and we will continue to do so. This handy browser plugin for both Firefox and Google Chrome gives you the perfect push button way to have powerful SEO tools right in your web browser. Enabling SEO quake and visiting your blog can give you some pretty informative information about how Google and the rest of the search engines feel about your blog. If your overall word frequency is too high, you will know about it and SEOQuake gives you a list of words that you have overused so you can stop using them so much. That’s pretty neat.

2. Live Keyword Analysis

Copying and pasting is usually a no-no for your blog, but for checking blog densities it’s OK to do it. Live Keyword Analysis lets you past the text from your blog or while you are writing a post to verify the density. It will allow you to choose up to 3 keywords to check the percentages for a post. You can easily learn before you hit the publish button if you are using too many words that could get the negative attention of Google.

3. Internet Marketing Ninjas

If you’ve always wanted to know about how useful every word on your blog is, the in-depth analysis tool that Internet Marketing Ninjas let you use is phenomenal. Are you over using the word “sweet” or “right on” in your posts? You could be in for an ugly reminder of the way that you express yourself in your blog posts after reading the analysis report generated by the Ninjas.

4. SEO Book

SEO Book provides more than just KW density tools, but you will probably find yourself using their keyword tool quite a bit. In a matter of seconds, everything about a blog post URL that you provide will be displayed for your viewing pleasure or horror. Not only are you given a list of words and percentages, you are confronted with one word, two word and three word phrases that can really add up on your density count. This means if you’re overusing “check this out”, “read this post” or “leave a comment” Google could hate your blog.

By fixing KW issues before they get out of hand, you will be able to find the right balance of what keywords and anchors to use that will please Google, Bing and Yahoo when they crawl your website searching through your blog posts and content. Going for 1 or 2 percent maximum density is preferred and works well for our internet marketing website.
